Chourses-Coëtivy Collection
The Musée Condé at Chantilly owns 44 of the 52 books known to have belonged to the library of Antoine de Chourses († 1485), captain of King Louis XI’s francs-archers and Catherine de Coëtivy (ca. 1460-1528), Louis XI’s niece. Between 1475 and 1525, this noble couple assembled a collection that illustrates the increasingly important place of books in the spheres of power and the flourishing of bibliophilic practices in courtly milieus.

An illustrator and an engraver, Robert Nanteuil is one of the most prized portraitists of the century of Louis XIV. The Duke d'Aumale was impressed by Nanteuil's skill and purchased several of his engravings, often from well-known collectors. Nanteuil’s portraits are classic and simple, showcasing his subjects with great precision yet also managing to highlight their personality. This exhibition is taking place in the Gallery of Prints and Drawings and is supported by Friends of the Domaine de Chantilly.

Fable & Bibliophilia
During the 19th century, Henri d'Orléans, duke d'Aumale, assembled one of the most incredible collection of books and manuscripts housed today in the Château de Chantilly. Carmontelle (1717-1806), Le temps de la douceur de vivre
Chantilly is home to the largest collection of portraits in watercolor by Louis Carrogis, known as Carmontelle, who depicted the illustrious guests at the Palais-Royal in Paris during the 18th century. For the first time, a selection from Chantilly’s incredible holding of 484 works is exhibited in the Gallery of Prints and Drawings.
