Henri d'Orléans, Duke d'Aumale, was born on January 16, 1822 in Paris. Fifth son of King Louis-Philippe and Queen Marie-Amélie, and heir to the last Duke of Bourbon and Prince de Condé, the Duke d'Aumale was destined for a remarkable life as a soldier, politician, historian, author and of course, art collector.
