October 20, 2019 - January 5, 2020
Château de Chantilly, Cabinet d'arts graphiques
An illustrator and an engraver, Robert Nanteuil is one of the most prized portraitists of the century of Louis XIV. The Duke d’Aumale was impressed by Nanteuil’s skill and purchased several of his engravings, often from well-known collectors. Nanteuil’s portraits are classic and simple, showcasing his subjects with great precision yet also managing to highlight their personality.
This exhibition is taking place in the Gallery of Prints and Drawings and is supported by Friends of the Domaine de Chantilly.
