Reopening of the private apartments of the Duke and the Duchess d’Aumale
After a two year restoration, the private apartments of the Duke and Duchess d'Aumale will reopen to the public on February 23, 2019. These rooms were designed between 1845 and 1847 by Eugène Lami, a skilled painter and decorator originally hired by King Louis-Philippe. The galleries at Chantilly are the only décor of the July Monarchy (1830-1848) that are entirely preserved in France. (The apartments are accessible through guided tours only). La Joconde nue
To commemorate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci's death, one of the most enigmatic drawings acquired by the Duke d'Aumale, The Nude Mona Lisa, is going to be the centerpiece of an unprecedented exhibition. The show will attempt to decode the secrets behind this mysterious drawings. Did Leonardo have a hand in its creation? Other Renaissance masterpieces on loan from other prestigious institutions will help to understand the portraiture of this seated female nude figure.

The musée Condé has an internationally unique collection of prints and drawings, including 366 portraits drawn by two of the major French Renaissance portraitists, Jean and François Clouet, and their workshops. Among these are delicate sheets dedicated to female figures featuring famous women of the Renaissance (such as Renée de France, Eleonore von Habsburg or Diane de Poitiers) and unidentified but equally beautiful models. Chourses-Coëtivy Collection
The Musée Condé at Chantilly owns 44 of the 52 books known to have belonged to the library of Antoine de Chourses († 1485), captain of King Louis XI’s francs-archers and Catherine de Coëtivy (ca. 1460-1528), Louis XI’s niece. Between 1475 and 1525, this noble couple assembled a collection that illustrates the increasingly important place of books in the spheres of power and the flourishing of bibliophilic practices in courtly milieus.
