SUMMARY:The Manufactory of Extravagance. Porcelain from Meissen and Chantilly
DESCRIPTION:The Domaine de Chantilly is presenting an unprecedented show dedicated to two major porcelain productions from the 18th century – Meissen and Chantilly. For the first time\, an important exhibition highlights the dialogue between these prestigious manufactories and explores their mutual influence and ongoing rivalry. Organized with the collaboration of the Porzellansammlung in Dresden as well as private and public collections from Europe and the United States\, it has brought together more than 100 exquisite objects and figurines most of which have never been shown in France and for many\, never exhibited outside of Germany. \nIn addition to unveiling new research on two of the greatest porcelain productions from the 18th century and their deep-rooted connections\, this exhibition also offers a stunning\, visual experience. The renowned architect and collector Peter Marino has created a spectacular scenography in the the Great Apartments of the Château de Chantilly\, including its exquisiteGrande Singerie (Monkey Room) whose decoration\, like in porcelain\, reflect the European appreciation for Asian themes. Created for Louis-Henri de Bourbon-Condé\, these beautiful galleries are a uniquely authentic setting for the presentation of incredible objects dating from the same period. \nThis exhibition is curated by Dr. Mathieu Deldicque\, Curator of the Musée Condé at the Domaine de Chantilly.
