SUMMARY:Carmontelle (1717-1806)\, Le temps de la douceur de vivre
DESCRIPTION:Chantilly is home to the largest collection of portraits in watercolor by Louis Carrogis\, known as Carmontelle\, who depicted the illustrious guests at the Palais-Royal in Paris during the 18th century. For the first time\, a selection from Chantilly’s incredible holding of 484 works is exhibited in the Gallery of Prints and Drawings. The sheets have been exceptionally disassembled from their albums arranged by the Duke d’Aumale in 1888 and displayed in the new rooms open since 2017. Nicole Garnier\, Chief Curator at Chantilly\, published an illustrated catalogue to accompany this delightful exhibition. This presentation is made possible through the support of the Tavolozza Foundation and the Friends of the Domaine de Chantilly. \n
