Le Massacre des Innocents de Nicolas Poussin. Poussin Picasso Bacon
September 11, 2017 - January 7, 2018
Jeu de Paume, Domaine de Chantilly
This exhibition is the result of an unprecedented collaboration between eminent specialists, including Pierre Rosenberg (former President-Director of the Louvre), Laurent Le Bon (Director of the Picasso Museum in Paris), and Chantilly’s own Nicole Garnier. In addition to the recently restored centerpiece and other works from Chantilly’s collection, the exhibition will feature some exceptional loans, such as Guido Reni’s painting of the same subject (Pinacoteca Nazionale, Bologna), Picasso’s The Charnel House (Museum of Modern Art, New York), and Bacon’s Head II (Ulster Museum, Belfast).
The Friends of the Domaine de Chantilly is thrilled to contribute towards this important exhibitions and would like to thank the donors who have already supported this project:
- Dr. Susan E. Kendall in honor of Mrs. Dona S. Kendall
- Mr. Robert de Rothschild
- Mr. and Mrs. William Rayner
A concurrent exhibition of more than 30 outstanding drawings by Nicolas Poussin will be presented in the new Gallery of Prints and Drawings.
